140 Affordable Units In Greenpoint Hit NYC Housing Lottery

Do you qualify for a newly-constructed, $613-per-month studio on India Street?

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — A slew of affordable waterfront apartments, many of which go for less than $900 per month, just hit the NYC Housing Lottery, city records show.

There are 140 affordable studios, one- and two-bedrooms up for grabs at 23 India St., a newly-constructed six-story building on the East River waterfront two blocks north of Transmitter Park, according to NYC Housing Connect.

The 35 studios, 35 one-bedrooms and 70 two-bedrooms are available to New Yorkers who meet specific income requirements and complete an application before the March 19 deadline.

  • Seven studios with a $613 monthly rent are reserved for people earning between $22,903 and $26,720 per year.
  • Twenty-eight studios with a $947 monthly rent are reserved for people earning between $34,355 and $40,080 per year.
  • Seven one-bedrooms with a $659 monthly rent are reserved for households earning between $24,549 and $30,560 per year.
  • Twenty-eight one-bedrooms with a $1,017 monthly rent are reserved for households earning between $36,823 and $45,840 per year.
  • Fourteen two-bedrooms with a $801 monthly rent are reserved for households earning between $29,452 and $38,160 per year.
  • Fifty-six two-bedrooms with a $1,230 monthly rent are reserved for households earning between $44,160 and $57,240 per year.

Building amenities include a community room, interior courtyard and laundry room, city records show.

The building is a twenty-minute walk from the G train station at Nassau Avenue but just a minute walk to the Greenpoint terminal for the East River Ferry.
