4 Brooklyn High Schools Rank in NY's Top 100: Report

Of the top 100 public high schools in New York, only four are in Brooklyn, according to new rankings released by Niche.com.

Niche.com has released its ”Best Public High Schools in America” list for 2016, with 23 New York City schools and just four Brooklyn schools among the top 100 in New York state.

Manhattan, home to around one million fewer residents than Brooklyn, has 10 schools on the list.

In fact, the highest ranked school in New York — and the country — is Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.

The first Brooklyn school on the list is Brooklyn Technical High School in Fort Greene, which ranked No. 24 in the state and No. 100 nationwide.

Elsewhere in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Latin School in East Williamsburg ranked No. 43 statewide; Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences in Manhattan Beach ranked No. 72 statewide; and Bedford Academy High School in Bed-Stuy ranked No. 75 statewide.

“I like the fact that we are able to experience majors to get a taste of what college will be like,” a Brooklyn Tech student wrote in a review of the school on Niche.

“The school has lots of great opportunities, but there is a lot that has to be worked on in terms of the curriculum and teachers,” another senior wrote.
