50 Williamsburg Apartments Hit Affordable Housing Lottery

Affordable apartments in three different neighborhood buildings are up for grabs this month.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Apartments in three different neighborhood buildings have hit the affordable housing lottery, meaning 50 new spots are up for grabs.

41 units at 123 Hope Street, three at the 396 South 5th Street building and six at Ainslie Tower have all made their way onto the list this month.

The most affordable options are at the Ainslie Tower, which is found at 467 Keap Street. This building has three $1,058 per month one-bedroom apartments and three $1,280 per month two-bedroom apartments up for grabs for those making 60 percent of the area median income.

Applicants should make between $36,275 and $43,860 or $50,100 for the one-bedroom option depending on how many people will live there and at least $43,886 for the two-bedroom option.

Slightly less affordable, but with many more apartments on the list, is the Hope Street building.

Here, nine studio apartments are available for $1,231 per month for those making 80 percent the area median income and six are available for $1,772 for those making 100 percent the area median income. The 20 one-bedroom apartments available include 12 for those at the 80-percent level for $1,320 and eight for those at the 100 percent level for $2,292 per month. Finally, four two-bedroom units for $1,320 per month are available for those making the 80-percent level and two $2,759 per mont apartments are available for those making the 100-percent level.

For the studio apartments, 80 percent the median income starts at $44,160 and 100 percent starts at $60,775. The one-bedroom income range starts at $47,280 for 80 percent or $78,583 for 100 percent and the two-bedroom range begins at $56,606 at the 80 percent and $94,595 at the 100 percent.

The South 5th Street building is offering only three of its one-bedroom apartments for those making 130 percent of the area median income, or about $1,849 per month. Applicants should make between $63,395 and $95,030 or $108,550 depending on how many people will be living there.

Applications for the Hope Street building started on March 9 and the other two buildings started last week.
