WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — New apartments on Metropolitan Avenue have hit the affordable housing lottery, but only for those that make at least $75,806 per year, records show.

The three one-bedroom spots — found at 141 Metropolitan Ave. between Wythe Avenue and Berry Street — come with a dishwasher, balcony, roof access, central air conditioning and a backyard, records show.

They will go to those that make at least $75,806 per year and a maximum of $97,110 if one person is applying. If two or three people are applying, they should make no more than a combined $111,020 salary for two applicants and a combined $124,930 salary for three applicants.

The apartments will cost $2,211 per month.

The Metropolitan Avenue spots are far from the first units to hit the "affordable" market with a salary requirement in this range. They are aimed at those making 130 percent of the area median income.

A group of similarly-priced apartments on South Third Street recently went off the affordable list.

Those one-bedroom spots, in a building at 219 South 3rd Street, cost $2,253 per month. Applicants needed to make at least $77,246 a year.

The Metropolitan Avenue apartments are now the only ones still available in Williamsburg on the affordable housing lottery list. The deadline to apply for those is Oct. 22. To find out more about how to apply, click here.
