'Beers Without Beards' Fest Brings Women Beer-Makers To Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — For the second year in a row, the best female craft beer-makers will descend on Brooklyn for a week of celebrating women in the industry and of course — tasting plenty of beer.

The Beers With(out) Beards festival will kick off on Aug. 7 and run until that Sunday, Aug. 11. The event, hosted by Hop Culture Magazine, first launched last year and brought more than 1,000 people, 60 female brewers and 35 beer industry veterans to the borough.

This year, there will be seven events highlighting the achievements of these female beer makers — including a beer and cheese workshop and a beer dinner — before a final day of taste-testing at The Well on Meserole Street on Saturday.

Here's all you need to know to join in the sampling:

• Where: The Well, 272 Meserole Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206
• When: 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10
• Tickets: General admission is $55 and will get you a taster for access to unlimited pours; a "Designated Driver Ticket" is $20 plus fees and will get you into the festival and a free t-shirt. Both tickets can only go to those 21 and older. There are 700 tickets available.
• Food: There will be vendors, included vegetarian options, to purchase inside. So far vendors include Twisted Truffles, an alcohol-infused truffle cake ball.
