Bill Murray Will Bartend in Brooklyn This Weekend

Bill Murray is manning the bar this weekend at the opening of a new Greenpoint restaurant. But don't expect to get past the bouncers.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — Cultural icon and legendary party-crasher Bill Murray is testing out his bartending chops this weekend at the opening of the upscale eatery 21 Greenpoint, located at, you guessed it, 21 Greenpoint Ave. in Brooklyn.

His son, Homer Murray, is behind the new business and was a partner in River Styx, which was at the same coastal-Brooklyn location and closed Aug. 14 after three years of operation.

The newly revamped menu and space seeks to deliver a fancier experience this time around, ditching the nachos in lieu of farm-to-table veggies, as Murray junior told Eater NY:

"We made it prettier, renovated the dining room, added a new bar, and updated the kitchen.'' The food, he says, will be seasonal and exclusively from local farms. "We try to use seconds like tomatoes or carrots that farmers can't sell because they don't look as good but they still taste great and are high quality. Then we make them look pretty.''

You may want to arrive early with crossed fingers, as it's a guest-list only opening with a passing chance that "there will be some extra seats for walk-ins," according to a statement from a 21 Greenpoint rep. sent to Eater NY.
