The shooting occurred outside 185 Greenpoint Ave., where the suspect lives, the NYPD said. A witness told police that the suspect had locked himself up inside the building after shooting the victim.
The cops received the 911 call about the shooting at 2:35 p.m., and upon arrival, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his head. Officers then swarmed the area to put up a barricade around the armed person, the NYPD said.

The victim's name is being withheld until all family members are notified of the incident.
Multiple news outlets quoted police sources as saying the shooting arose from a landlord-tenant dispute. The NYPD official would not confirm that relationship, but he would confirm that officers believe the victim's girlfriend lives at 185 Greenpoint Ave.
The shooting victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he is being treated and is in critical condition, according to police.
