Someone is trying to rent out a renovated Williamsburg dumpster on Craiglist for $1,200 month, or $200 per night.

“This art deco hipster retro mini apt from a converted dumpster is green friendly and sustainable... and trendy,” the Craigslist ad says.

However, as pointed out by the real-estate blog 6sqft, the Williamsburg dumpster appears to be identical to one that Brooklyn artist Gregory Kloehn bought for $2,000 a few years ago and turned into a living space for himself — complete with a sink, stove, toilet, bed, BBQ, mini bar, outdoor shower and rooftop deck. He even tricked it out with windows, wall insulation and running water.

On Thursday, a day after the outrageous Craigslist post hit the news, Kloehn told Patch via email: “Someone used my photos to pull a prank.”

He added that he hasn’t ruled out putting his dumpster on the market, though. “Maybe I should rent it,“ he said.

Kloehn and his eccentric living sitch were featured on HGTV in 2013.

“It just hit me — I just thought, ’Hey, that’s the perfect space for a home,’” he told HGTV. “It’s got a nice pitched roof; it’s small. I could really make a living space out of this.”

At the time, Kloehn would roll the dumpster around to sleep on different streets in (what looked like) industrial Williamsburg.

No word yet on how the author of the Craigslist post expected to pull off an art prank using someone else’s work. We’ve reached out to the mystery poster to get to the bottom of the thing. Check back for updates.
