NEW YORK CITY, NY — A pair of European siblings who've been living and working in NYC were among the more than 30 people killed in Monday's terror attacks in Brussels, according to city, state and federal officials.

Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski, both Dutch citizens, were reportedly speaking to their mother on the phone from the Brussels Airport early that morning, directly before a flight back to NYC, when the line went dead.

Friends and family members sent out pleas on social media in the following the bombings, hoping the brother and sister would turn up.

But by Friday, Sascha and Alexander had been identified among the dead.

The siblings' Facebook profiles have since gone into remembrance mode.

NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio issued the following statement late Friday morning.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski in the horrific Brussels attack. Two young siblings from our city were taken from us far too soon, and our hearts break for the family and friends of Sascha and Alexander. New York City has shown time and again that we will not succumb to the threat of terrorism, and we will not live in fear. Today we vow to continue standing up for freedom and democracy in honor of those we have lost.”

And here's one from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

"This morning, New Yorkers were saddened to learn that two of our own, Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski, lost their lives in Tuesday's senseless terror attacks in Brussels. Their lives were cut short by cowards who have chosen extremism and hate instead of peace and unity. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend our deepest prayers and condolences to the Pinczowski family, as well as all those who lost loved ones in Tuesday's heartbreaking attacks."

Sascha was previously a student at Marymount Manhattan College on the Upper East Side and a production intern at Shiraz Events in Chelsea, according to her LinkedIn page. The page also says she spoke five languages.

Florecia Sadler, a producer at Shiraz Events, told the New York Post that Sascha was born in Greece and raised near Belgium in Holland.

“She was an awesome chick,” Sadler told the Post.

The producer said Sascha had traveled to Greece from NYC to deal with an immigration issue.

As we continue to hope for positive word about Alexander and Sascha, we also thank you for the thoughts and prayers expressed on Facebook and elsewhere. For now, please respect the privacy of the family.

In addition to the Pinczowski sinblings, at least two American citizens were killed in the Brussels terror attacks. They have yet to be identified.
