Dog Waste Composting Comes to East River State Park in Williamsburg
The pilot program provides dog owners with a pooper scooper and brown paper bags.

The new dog run at East River Park in Williamsburg is the first park in New York City to compost dog waste. The pilot program provides dog owners with a pooper scooper and brown paper bags.
Park staff adds sawdust, which helps the waste compost over time. The dog run opened on June 30 and Leslie Wright, New York City Regional Director of New York State Parks, says that things are running smoothly.
“So far, so good,” Wright told Patch. “We think it’ll be a big success.”
