Pics: Eliot Spitzer’s 3-Tower Skyscraper Development Is Rising In Williamsburg

The luxury development at 420 Kent Ave. will feature two rooftops pools, roof terraces, a beach volleyball court and a private park.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A new three-tower development funded by former governor Eliot Spitzer is rising off the Williamsburg coast.

Construction on the 857-apartment complex at 420 Kent Ave. near South Eighth Street has begun with the installation of a glass wall in the building’s northern tower, Brownstoner reported Monday.

The 22-story towers of 420 Kent will have floor-to-ceiling corner windows in 80 percent of the apartments that look over the Williamsburg Bridge, the East River and northern Brooklyn.

And twenty percent of the apartments will be affordably priced, according to the building’s architect firm, ODA.

Spitzer Engineering, a company headed by former governor Eliot Spitzer, bought the land for $16,000,000 in 2015, city records show.

“I asked ODA to create a project that would capture the spirit and vitality of Williamsburg and the grandeur of the entire Manhattan skyline,” Spitzer told Forbes.

“The East River-Brooklyn shoreline has always had so much potential,” added ODA founder and executive director Eran Chen.

“We have the opportunity to add something extraordinary to the skyline—something that we hope will be a tribute to the creative, forward-thinking spirit of Brooklyn.”
