The ACLU received a major spike in donations last weekend ($24 million in online donations) after President Donald Trump passed an executive order banning immigration from several Muslim-majority countries. The ACLU represented several of those affected by the ban, and the New York Civil Liberties Union got a federal Brooklyn judge to issue an indefinite stay on the ban in New York state.
