Greenpoint Mugging Spree: 4 Separate Victims Robbed in Less Than 2 Hours
A group of male suspects robbed four separate victims in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, early Sunday morning, police say.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — Four separate street muggings were carried out by a group of unidentified male suspects during a crime spree spanning one-and-a-half hours in Greenpoint early Sunday morning, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
Police said the four robberies went down in Greenpoint on Sunday, Sept. 25, in the following order:
- At 3:10 a.m., a 26-year-old male victim "was skateboarding with an unspecified number of friends on the northeast corner of Jackson St. and Meeker Ave. when four unidentified black-Hispanic males approached and engaged them in conversation," grabbed the victim, forced him to the ground and struck the victim with his skateboard before running off with his backpack. The backpack contained an iPhone 6, a Pentax camera, ID, passport and three books: "Just Kids," "Philosophy of Andy Warhol" and "Lolita."
- At 4:15 a.m., a 34-year-old male victim was struck the in the face and robbed of his iPhone, wallet containing $300, his ID and MetroCard by three male suspects at Jewel Street and Meserole Avenue. The victim was transported to Wyckoff Medical Center, "where he received eight stitches to close a laceration to his chin."
- Just 15 minutes later at, 4:15 a.m., two male suspects approached a 33-year-old male victim near Leonard Street at Engert Avenue, displayed a knife and ran off with the victim's iPhone 6 and credit card. The victim was not injured.
Concerned residents can speak to police about this Sunday-morning mugging spree, as well as other recent crime in Greenpoint, at the 94th Precinct Community Council meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
