L Train Delays Snarl Friday Morning Commute, MTA Says
L train service was halted between Broadway Junction and Lorimer, causing residual delays into the morning commute, the MTA said.

WILLIAMSBURG, NY — L train delays snarled Friday morning's commute while the MTA removed damaged trains from an overnight third rail incident, MTA officials said.
Service halted for a period of time between Broadway Junction and Lorimer stations with limited service into Manhattan due to a "broken third rail incident that happened over night," NYCT Subway wrote on Twitter.
By 7:40 a.m., service was restored from Canarsie to Eighth Ave., but delays were expected as trains returned to normal. Crowded stations were expected and NYCT Subway encouraged straphangers to allow more time to enter and leave the subway, as well as alternative routes.

"Continue to expect uneven headways and gaps in service for the next 30 min or so as we work to pump as many trains into the line as we can, as safely as we can. Take alternate routes if possible," NYC Transit's chief customer officer Sarah Meyer wrote on Twitter.
Other routes included transferring from the L to the A, C, or J lines at Broadway Junction, M trains from Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues, or the 3 train at Junius St., the MTA said.

Some shuttle bus service was offered between Lorimer St. and Broadway Junction, according to the MTA.
L service is now back up and running from Canarsie to 8th Ave. Continue to expect uneven headways and gaps in service for the next 30 min or so as we work to pump as many trains into the line as we can, as safely as we can. Take alternate routes if possible. https://t.co/UvbSfnjB2e

Limited Manhattan-bound L train service is resuming between Canarsie and 8 Av. Customers should expect delays as trains return to their normal schedule. Customers can also expect crowded stations so please allow extra time as you enter and leave the subway system. (1/3)
