The fire department said a man suffered "multiple trauma" in the fall on Tuesday morning.
WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A man suffered serious injuries in a fall down an elevator shaft at a building under construction in East Williamsburg on Tuesday morning.
According to the FDNY, paramedics arrived at 10:15 a.m. for reports of the man who fell about five stories at 246 Johnson Avenue. The man suffered "multiple traumas," according to a fire spokesman. He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital. He could not confirm the specific condition of the man.
The FDNY was unaware of whether the man was a construction worker at the site, but the building was undergoing work. According to Department of Buildings records, an application for work on the site was just approved on Nov. 1. Work was being done on plumbing of the new five-story building, according to city records. The site does not have any open DOB violations.
