Nayla Kidd's loved ones launched a viral online campaign to find her last week after the college student deactivated her phone and Facebook.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Friends, family and other New Yorkers who frantically searched for off-the-grid Columbia University student Nayla Kidd all through the second week of May were reportedly relieved to learn Monday that she had in fact just moved to East Williamsburg.

And the New York Daily News quoted a police source as saying: “Basically, she just wanted to get away from it all. She rented a place in Brooklyn."

Kidd's loved ones previously told reporters that the full-ride recipient had canceled her phone and bank account numbers, deactivated her Facebook page and otherwise disappeared from the public radar after attending a Columbia University dorm party on May 5.
Within about a week, though, Kidd reopened her bank account using her new address in East Williamsburg address, according to the Daily News' source.
"She didn't want to be at school anymore," the source said.
