Santana was a father of two who lived just two blocks from where he was killed, the Daily News reported. His family and friends remembered him as "a great man" who cared for his kids and loved throwing barbecues for the neighborhood.

The News said at the time that police believe Santana and several others had gotten into a fight outside the bodega the night he was killed.
