Party and Pedal Into the Night This Saturday at the Brooklyn Bike Rave

Gear up in your most creative attire and ride along with the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative as you groove to the tunes.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — As the final steamy summer nights of the year begin to pass, what better way to celebrate this weekend than to pedal and party at the Brooklyn Bike Rave?

The waterfront development and stewardship non-profit Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI) will host an event that promises to cure your Saturday night fever with neon lights, dance music, costumes and good vibes.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. on Sat. Aug. 27, meeting at 1 Commercial St. in Greenpoint; the ride will depart at 8:00 p.m. sharp. For rave costume themes and ideas organizers created an inspirational Pintrest page.

Tickets run between $37.50 - $50 and are available through Friday at midnight.

The ride kicks off in Greenpoint rain-or-shine, tracing the waterfront through Williamsburg and the Navy Yard before wrapping around Brooklyn Heights and culminating in DUMBO, complete with the epic nighttime views of the Manhattan Bridge. View the rave route below.

The checklist for riders according to organizers:

  • Smart phone with Newtown Radio link saved to stream the Brooklyn Bike Rave Show
  • Portable speakers for your bike to play a synchronized playlist
  • A well lit up bike
  • Cash for food and drinks along the ride
  • Photo ID
  • Water bottle
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (Be sure to check the forecast)
  • MetroCard – You may want to take the train home
  • Patch kit in case of a flat

Olivia Lynch, BGI's director of outreach and engagement said the event "provides a unique opportunity to collectively celebrate the city within the shared realm of its public greenways, plazas, and parks. We invite participants of all ages and from all backgrounds to join us for the city’s first event of its kind.”
