Photos: New Yorkers Hit The Red Carpet For Oscars Night

Brooklyn did the red carpet a little ... different.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK — The 90th Annual Academy Awards drew the glitterati in their chicest threads to the red carpet — no, not in Hollywood but right here in New York City.

As the world’s biggest movie stars gathered at the Dolby Theatre in California, so did their fans in bars and nightclubs across the boroughs. And those fanatic film buffs brought costumes to rival even the American Express Gold Cards dress, the South Park’s green sequined hot pants and Bjork’s epic swan.

Bushwick’s House of Yes and Kostume Kult hosted the Alty Awards, handing out prizes for the best alternative looks in categories that included most tragic costume, most woke costume, biggest hair and least dressed.

A clearly wasted Sleeping Beauty and an Ariel who had dropped the fins and picked up a latte.

Manhattan movie nerds gathered at Caveat for an Oscars Trivia Night and at Sugar East for a Sutton Place-styled red carpet.

And in Astoria, Albatross Bar patrons watched the oscars under the gaze of RuPaul.
