Robber Who Locked Worker In Freezer At Williamsburg's Meatball Shop Arrested, NYPD Says

One of the two robbers, who police said locked an employee in a freezer, remains at large.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN – Police have arrested one of the robbers they say held up the Meatball Shop in Williamsburg and locked a worker in a freezer.

Tony Thomas, 33, was caught a day after the Aug. 10 crime and charged with robbery, criminal possession of a firearm and menacing, police said.

He and an accomplice entered the popular Williamsburg restaurant at 710 Bedford Ave. around 3 a.m. and pointed a gun at a 30-year-old employee, according to the NYPD.

The pair forced the man to open the eatery’s safe, grabbed $2,000 in cash and shut the worker in a stand-up freezer before fleeing, police said.

Thomas’ alleged accomplice remains at large.
