Smorgasburg To Bring Prison Cuisine And Spaghetti Donuts To Williamsburg and Prospect Park This Weekend
Smorgasburg brings spaghetti donuts, stroopwafel and more to Brooklyn. You don't know what they are. But you want them.

New Yorkers craving spaghetti donuts, chili pies and churros ice cream sandwiches are in luck — Smorgasburg is back.
The iconic Brooklyn food vendors’ market will open in Williamsburg on Saturday and in Prospect Park on Sunday and feature 24 new treats that include stroopwafel, pork pancakes and beef tartare.
Exactly 100 vendors will be taking over East River State Park in Williamsburg on April 1 and Breeze Hill in Prospect Park on April 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the venue’s website.

The newest vendors were chosen after two months of tastings at the Smorgasburg offices in Crown Heights, said Smorgasburg director of events Georgia Frierson, adding that the decisions weren't just based on food.
“We definitely love the stories that came from the new vendors,” said Frierson. “They all have amazing backgrounds and great ideas for their future concepts.”

Those new vendors include cheesemakers from Wisconsin, a former prison inmate who specializes in food inspired by his time behind bars, and a group of friends from Juarez who like to hand-roll their own tortillas.
Frierson had just one piece of advice to offer Smorgasburg-bound New Yorkers who might be overwhelmed by the wide array of food.
“The best plan is to bring a big group of friends,” Frierson said. “Spread out, taste and share.”
Here are just a few spots you and your friends might want to hit.
Pop Pasta (Williamsburg)
It’s baked spaghetti but it’s also a donut. Flavors include carbonara (with bacon), red sauce and bolognese.
