BROOKLYN, NY — A track fire in the tunnel between Brooklyn and Queens was still causing extreme delays hours later on the G train Tuesday morning, the MTA said.

Transit officials first reported that FDNY was working between Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street just before 5:30 a.m. and later clarified that the firefighters were putting out a track fire between the stations, according to MTA tweets.

The G trains were suspended around 10:42 a.m. after more than five hours of delays and "extremely limited" service, the MTA said.

The trains were stopped between Bedford-Nostrand Avenue station in Bed-Stuy and Court Square station in Queens. Other stations should expect delays, the transit officials said.

The MTA suggested taking the B62 bus instead of the G train between the two stations and said station agents will be giving out courtesy passes for other subways or bus service.
