Videology Will Close After 15 Years In Williamsburg

The Bedford Avenue screening room will close its doors for the last time on Oct. 27, owners announced.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN -- One of Williamsburg's favorite screening rooms will close this month after 15 years on Bedford Avenue, the store owners announced.

Videology will shutter its doors at 308 Bedford Ave. for the last time on Oct. 27, when it will go out kicking with a Halloween costume party, according to a tweet sent out Tuesday morning.

The store originally launched as a video rental space but adapted in 2012 to better suit a generation that binge-watches on Netflix, Brooklyn Vegan reported at the time.

Since then, it has become one Williamsburg's top venues for pairing off-beat movies with drinks, parties and not watching movies on a laptop.

Owners Wendy Chamberlain and James Leet did not clarify why they were closing Videology, but Patch reported in 2017 that they filed suit against the landlord used "baseless" complaints in an attempt to evict them.
