Virtual Reality Is Revitalizing EDM Artistry
Virtual reality allows EDM artists to get more creative and connect with their fans.

Virtual reality is taking people on visual journeys that expand the way we interact and play. The entertainment industry has already introduced VR experiences into films, video games and as even at music festivals. EDM is one music genre that’s taking full advantage of the opportunities virtual reality has to offer.
Already, VR headsets are part of the festival-going experience. Millennials, especially, want to feel included as they connect with virtual reality devices at concerts and share these unique experiences with the world. Devices like Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard have ushered in new ways to experience live entertainment.
Some EDM artists have already jumped on board. Landon Williams, for example, released a new song complimented with a VR music video on Lowly Place.

DJ Enrique Cadena Marin is another artist that is using virtual reality to highlight his artistry and revolutize the EDM world. Currently in development, Cadena Marin’s virtual reality VRhythm goggles are expected to take his fans on an immersive journey.
In partnership with software engineers and technologists, Jorge Brewer and Marcel Duran, DJ Enrique is developing and experimenting with his product before giving testers to dedicated fans. The lightweight model in production will allow fans to take a tour of virtual environments at concerts, music videos, or EDM playlists.

“A lot of the music I created was meant to be paired with visuals. Like a lot of EDM artists, I already use technical visuals in my shows, so using VR is the next best step to connect with my audiences,” says DJ Enrique Cadena Marin.
Cadena Marin also created a new form of EDM. Called Tero Dancehall, the genre is an ambient mix of high-paced EDM rhythms mixed with pop, rap, and indie songs with a bit of jazz. Adding in swing element during choruses and other Latin American influences has allowed Enrique Cadena Marin to create a beautifully concocted mix of EDM that has sent fans on a rage.
Specifically geared towards EDM fans, Enrique Cadena Marin mentions that the model will be lightweight and include quality 3D audio specialization, a 360 degree view and an optional DVI adapter for laptops.
“VR takes this idea of wide, expansive spaces and mixes with the songs that allow you to move your body and explore what makes you feel comfortable,” he says.
As more artists implement virtual reality experiences into their music, fans may be able to experience musical artistry and community in a whole new way.
“I think it’s really important that EDM is always evolving. I think that with VR can really transcend and create a sense of community for people at music festivals,” says DJ Enrique.
