Manhole Explosions Rock Busy Brooklyn Street: Video

A series of manhole explosions near Bedford Avenue and Wallabout Street early Monday evening caused sent vehicles and pedestrians scrambling, as seen in video recorded at the scene. (Embedded below.)
Fire officials reported on Twitter that they responded to the busy stretch of Wallabout around 5:15 p.m. in response to “multiple manhole fires.”

No injuries have been reported so far.
Williamsburg News, a Twitter account that follows Jewish news in the area, reported around 5 p.m. that streets were closed off, and many surrounding homes without power, in the aftermath of the explosions.

Update: As of 12 a.m. on Monday night, the Con-Ed outage website was showing that three outages in the area were affecting around 100 customers.
