Williamsburg Gas Leak Forces Evacuation Of 2 Buildings: FDNY

The National Grid and FDNY were dealing with a gas leak for over an hour Thursday morning at a building on Broadway, FDNY said.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A gas leak on Broadway led two buildings to be evacuated Thursday morning, FDNY said.

Fire officials rushed to 236 Broadway just before 8 a.m. and found that a gas pipe had been broken at a construction site, according to FDNY alerts and a spokesperson. Two buildings, 240 and 230 Broadway, were evacuated out of precaution, the spokesperson said.

The leak was under control by about 9:30 a.m., according to FDNY alerts. There were no injuries reported.
