Williamsburg and Greenpoint: Meet Your New Local Politicians

Incumbents took Election Day in Williamsburg and Greenpoint's local races.

WILLIAMSBURG and GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — Williamsburg and Greenpoint residents did not have many options in local races on Election Day as incumbents ran unopposed in the State Assembly and State Senate.

Incumbent Maritza Davila successfully ran unopposed in the 53rd State Assembly District, securing the seat she has held since 2013. Longtime Assembly Joseph R. Lentol, who has represented North Brooklyn in the New York State legislature since 1972, also successfully ran unopposed. Simcha Felder, also unopposed, was backed by bipartisan support.

Davila, a native of Puerto Rico, grew up in Bushwick and serves as Chair of the Subcommittee on Retention of Homeownership and Stabilization of Affordable Housing. Lenton is Chair of the Committee on Codes, which oversees criminal justice legislation in New York State. Felder is the chair of the New York City Education Subcommittee and the Children and Families Committee
