WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A two-day marathon of community discussions, workshops and performances by more than 20 artists and activists will be put on by El Puente CADRE (Community Artists' Development & Resource Exchange) in South Williamsburg later this week. The forums and performances are in honor of Women's History Month.

It's all free, and the following are scheduled, via El Puente:

  • A community forum with female activists and leaders
  • Workshops in dance, poetry, nutrition, quilting, meditation and visual art
  • Community resources: environmental justice, reproductive justice, “Know Your Rights”
  • Evening performances from El Puente youth and professional artists in traditional music, theater, and contemporary dance

"El Puente is honored to create a space of healing, affirmation and reflection for our community, facilitated and inspired by our powerful CADRE artists," said Frances Lucerna, the director of El Puente. "Mentoring is El Puente’s principle of the month intentionally selected to focus on the dynamic leadership and creative spirit of women and their rich legacy in the movement for liberation."
