WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A Williamsburg Starbucks was forced to close its doors after the Health Department found evidence of mice, dirty counters and non-vermin proof facilities, city records show.

The Starbucks at North Seventh Street near Bedford Avenue was shuttered Tuesday after inspectors cited the coffee shop chain with 38 health code violation points, according to Health Department records.

This is the first time the Starbucks has not received an A grade from inspectors since opening in 2014: it received less than 10 violation points during 2018, 2017 and 2016 inspections.

The Bedford Avenue Starbucks, the second to come to the neighborhood, raised more than a few eyebrows when it opened in Williamsburg, DNAinfo reported at the time.

Although the coffee house chain promised to be "the coolest Starbucks you're ever going to go into" with live music, rotating artwork from local artists, and even beer and wine service, several residents told DNAinfo it made them worry about gentrification.

"I'm pissed about it," Zilah Drahn, reportedly said. "This is not Manhattan."

Update: Starbucks responded to Patch's request for comment with the following statement.

"At Starbucks, the health and safety of our customers and partners (employees) is of the utmost importance to us, and we are committed to high health and safety standards. We reopened the store on Thursday following a thorough inspection and in-depth cleaning."
