Williamsburg's Videology Will Become Old Man Hustle Comedy Club

The Manhattan comedy spot will open its second location at the former movie bar's space on Bedford Ave., according to signs in the windows.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — The Bedford Avenue-South First Street corner spot will get a new tenant for the first time in 15 years.

It appears Old Man Hustle comedy club has plans to take over 308 Bedford Ave. space, which held movie store and bar Videology until October, Brooklyn Vegan first spotted.

Signs with the comedy bar's name have been put up in the storefront's windows and Old Man Hustle's social media pages advertise a Williamsburg location on Bedford "coming soon." Videology 's sign above the windows was taken down over the weekend, Brooklyn Vegan said.

A construction worker that appeared to be painting inside the store was there when Patch visited the location Monday. Old Man Hustle did not immediately return a request for comment.

The Lower East Side spot advertises itself as a "quaint neighborhood bar featuring Cheap Booze, Cocktails & Stand Up Comedy" every day, according to its Facebook. The Williamsburg spot will be its second location, adding to the flagship club on Essex Street.

Videology closed its doors on Bedford Avenue back in October.

The store originally launched as a video rental space but adapted in 2012 to be a top venue for pairing off-beat movies with drinks and parties.

Owners Wendy Chamberlain and James Leet did not clarify why they were closing Videology at the time, but Patch reported in 2017 that they filed suit against the landlord used "baseless" complaints in an attempt to evict them.

Since closing, the movie spot's famous trivia has been reborn at Nitehawk Cinema's Prospect Park location. The theater, which also has a location in Williamsburg, hosts bi-monthly movie trivia nights with Movie Trivia Nerds and the former Videology trivia hosts Wendy Mays and Kevin Cecil.
