MTA Worker Killed, Another Seriously Injured When Hit by G Train Near Prospect Park

One worker was killed early Thursday. The other was in serious but stable condition.

WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN — One MTA worker was killed and another was seriously injured just after midnight while preparing a G train track near the Fort Hamilton Parkway station for overnight work, police and MTA officials said.

The two workers were struck by a southbound G train in the tunnel between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Church Avenue, the MTA said. Both men were pinned by the train after it went around a curve, according to police.

Paramedics arrived on the scene near Caton Avenue and East Third Street at 12:09 a.m. on Thursday and transported the two workers to the hospital. One man, 53, was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, while another, 49, was taken to Methodist Hospital in serious but stable condition, an FDNY spokesman said. The worker in critical condition was later pronounced dead.
