5 Things: Intern at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

What you need to know, pre-coffee

1. Prospect Park's Vanderbilt Playground will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 19 for a film shoot. Luckily, the park has plenty of other options—take a look at them here.

2. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is looking for interns! If you or someone you know is thinking about a career in horticulture, you've got until Dec. 31 to submit an application. Click here for more information.

3. Bring the wee ones to Central Library on Thursday, Dec. 20 for Ezra Jack Keats Story Time and Take-A-Book, in which kids ages 3 to 7-years-old and their caregivers can enjoy listening to stories and take home a book for free. Meets at 7 p.m. in the youth wing.

4. Karaoke meets comedy at Union Hall tonight for the Jukebox, a monthly series uniting comedians, storytellers, writers, and actors around a shared fondness for karaoke. This month's edition features Danny Tamberelli and Mike Maronna (from The Adventures of Pete & Pete), David Rees, Mamrie Hart and Sam Reiff-Pasarew. Cost is $5, begins at 8 p.m.
