Boozy Farewell Party Planned for Windsor Terrace's Pavilion Theater

The theater will be closed for a year while it's converted into Nitehawk Cinemas' second property.

WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN — Williamsburg's Nitehawk Cinemas, the new owner of Park Slope's Pavilion Theater, is throwing a goodbye party for the space before it closes for refurbishment.

The free “Pour One Out for the Pavilion” party will take place on Nov. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will include a cash bar, live music from the Street Beat Brass Band, and free popcorn. Plus, Nitehawk says guests will be allowed to "explore the space" and "peek behind the curtains." You can register for the event online.

Nitehawk entered into a lease with the Pavilion's new owners this year, saving it from being demolished to make way for condos. The company says that over the next year, it will spend $10 million converting the property into its second location, one with 7 screens, a "double kitchen," two bars, "a restored atrium overlooking the park," an elevator, new seats, and other cosmetic improvements.

The Pavilion opened in 1928, then closed in 1978, before re-opening in 1996. However, despite its iconic status, it had often suffered from audience complaints.

Nitehawk, meanwhile, bills itself as the city's "premier dine-in theater," including table-side food and drink service.
