Brooklyn Baby Who Stopped Breathing Saved By Cops

Chloe Ivanov's mother banged on a police car door Saturday night and begged the officers inside it to save her dying baby. They did.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A Brooklyn cop saved the life a 15-month-old baby this weekend, police said.

When Chloe Ivanov stopped breathing at about 7:10 p.m. Saturday night, her mother clutched her in her arms and ran out into the street, near Ocean Parkway and Brighton Beach Avenue, to look for help, police said.

Caroline Maran Ivanov raced toward the police car she saw stopped at a red light and began banging on the window, said police.

Chloe had turned blue by that point, said police.

The cops radioed for help and Police Officer Daniel Newman — who was stationed nearby and trained as an EMT — and his lieutenant sped to the rescue, police said.

Chloe was foaming at the mouth when the two cops arrived on the corner, said police.

The four police officers decided to drive Chloe and her mom to Coney Island Hospital in their police car, where Newman cleaned the little girl’s mouth and administered chest compressions along the way, police said.

It wasn’t until they’d reached the hospital that the officer felt Chloe’s heart start to beat, police said.

Chloe was treated in the pediatric emergency room and later released, said police.

“I don’t know where we would be without the cops on the street,” Ivanov, 29, told the Daily News. "They really acted as New York’s Finest in that moment.”
