Brooklyn Cyclist Killed In Collision With Passing Box Truck: Cops

A Sunset Park man lost his life when a box truck tried to pass him on a one-way street in Borough Park Wednesday evening, police said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- A cyclist lost his life when a box truck collided into him on a Brooklyn street, police said.

Pedro Tepozteco, 26, was pedaling down 47th Street near 17th Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the 2017 Hino truck rolled up and tried to pass him on the one-way street, said police.

But the passenger-side rear tires struck Tepozteco and he was thrown to the ground, police said.

Medics rushed Tepozteco, of Sunset Park, to Maimonides Medical Center but doctors were unable to save his life, police said.

The 29-year-old truck driver stayed at the scene after the crash and was not charged with a crime as of Thursday morning, said police.
