Brooklyn Industries Comes to Cortelyou Road
The hip clothing store may herald a new retail-oriented identity for Ditmas Park.

It's no secret that Cortelyou Road is fast becoming a favored destination for Brooklyn foodies, and soon, Ditmas Park's most popular avenue may soon be a retail hot-spot, too.Â
Brooklyn Industries, a DUMBO-based apparel company, will this week open its newest outpost in the former Avon outlet at 1420 Cortelyou Rd.—the brand's eighth borough location and 16th in the city.Â
In June, Ditmas Park Patch asked readers what they wanted to see fill the space. Suggestions ranged from a pet store to a pharmacy to a fishmonger, though nowhere in the comments did anyone request an upmarket clothing store.Â

Nevertheless, the Brooklyn Paper reports that a large chunk of Brooklyn Industries' customer base hails from the neighborhood, meaning at least some people will be grateful to save themselves the hike to one of Park Slope's two locations.Â
What do you think? Are you pleased by the arrival of Brooklyn Industries? If not, what would prefer take over the space? Tell us in the comments.Â
