Brooklyn Man Murdered Mother In Brutal Stabbing, Cops Say

Michael Khaleel stands accused of stabbing his mother Hyacinth Khaleel to death in the Brooklyn home they shared, police said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- Police arrested a Brooklyn son they believe murdered his 75-year-old mother.

Michael Khaleel, 54, was charged Wednesday with stabbing Hyacinth Khaleel to death in the home they shared at 3857 Kings Highway near Overbaugh Place, police said.

NYPD officers found the elderly woman, who had defensive stab wounds on her arms and legs, Monday afternoon, days after she was killed, according to police.

Khaleel is slated to be arraigned on a single murder count in Brooklyn Criminal Court Thursday, court records show.

Hyacinth was the victim of four domestic abuse incidents involving her son, who had a history of mental illness, over the past 15 years, sources told the New York Post.

This is the second Brooklyn mother to lose her life this month at the hands of her son, according to police.

Crown Heights man Jason Reeves, 32, was arrested last week after police found his 67-year-old mother Paulette stabbed to death inside his Park Place apartment.

Like Michael Khaleel, Reeves suffered from mental illness and substance addiction, lived with his mother and had a history of violence, according to a New York Times report.
