WINDSOR TERRACE, NY — Brooklyn's spookiest venue is known for hosting boozy concerts, Victorian carnivals and gory operas, but it won't tolerate Halloween.

Green-Wood Cemetery will host an array of $25 night walks in October and November, but trick-or-treaters beware, this creepy, after-dark graveyard stroll is not for you.

"We know it’s Halloween season, but please do not arrive in costume," the event invitation reads. "Attendees in costume, face-paint or masks will not be admitted."

Harry Weil, director of Public Programs and Special Projects at the cemetery, said the masked and candy-seeking would be barred entrance because Green-Wood remains "an active cemetery."

"All of our events are created to educate and entertain those who participate," Weil said in a statement, "while maintaining a respectful environment."

While Green-Wood has deemed Halloween to be inappropriate for the cemetery, past productions show costumes and revelers aren't always unwelcome.

The 478-acre cemetery has hosted a Victorian-era circus, a gory opera and an a burger cook-off competition with bourbon and Beethoven in recent years.

Green-Wood Cemetery also found it appropriate to house the controversial statue of J. Marion Sims, a doctor who performed experiments on enslaved women that was removed from Central Park after residents protested.

The Halloween-free evening cemetery tours are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 18 and Oct. 19, and at three different times on Oct. 31. They'll also be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 1, Nov. 2 and Nov. 3.
