Burglaries on the Rise in the 66th Precinct
A total of 229 burglaries have gone down so far this year, marking a considerable increase from 2011.

While the 66th Precinct has seen a drop in some types of crime over the past month, including robberies and felony assaults, there has nevertheless been a considerable bounce in burglaries, according to CompStat.Â
According to data recorded from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2, the number of burglaries jumped more than 45 percent over a 28 day period from last year, rising from 24 burgaries in 2011 to 35 in 2012. Compared to the same week last year, burglaries rose 133 percent, with three reported in 2011 and seven reported in 2012.Â
Misdemeanor assaults are also up across the board, with eight reported over this year's seven day period, versus five in 2011. So far, there have been nearly 12 percent more assaults this year than last.Â

While misdemeanor sex crimes doubled from the same week last year (two in 2011, four in 2012), and tripled over the month (3 in 2011 and 9 in 2012), they remain down from last year as a whole, with 37 reported in 2011 and 34 reported in 2012.Â
