Burglars Deliver Brutal Mallet Beating For $42 Theft, Cops Say

Two thieves broke into a Windsor Terrace home, beat their victim with a mallet and stole $42 from his wallet, police said.

WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN -- Two burglars bashed a mallet into a man's head in order to steal $42 from his wallet, police said.

The man and woman knocked on the front door of the Windsor Terrace home on Prospect Park West and 17th Street at about 4:25 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.

When a 38-year-old man opened the door a crack to see who it was, the couple used the mallet to break the chain and barged into his home, said police.

After the pair beat the 38-year-old with their mallet, they grabbed the cash in his wallet and fled, police said.

Emergency responders rushed the man to a nearby hospital where doctors put 27 stables in his head, said police.

The woman had been arrested by Friday but police have yet to find the man, whom they describe as being in his late 20s, standing 6-feet 2-inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds.
