Casa Cultural To Host Dia De Los Muertos Event In Kensington
The Dia de Los Muertos gathering will be begin in Kensington on Saturday at 1 p.m.

KENSINGTON, BROOKLYN — A community group will on Saturday hold a Dia de Los Muertos event in Kensington.
The Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, event will be hosted by Latinx heritage group Casa Cultural at the Avenue C Plaza, located on Avenue C and McDonald Avenue. The festivities, featuring live performances from local schools, food and art, will start at 1 p.m. and end at 7 p.m, according to the group.
"There will be arts, crafts, performances, alter exhibitions, and to cap the evening, we’ll light our communal ofrenda alongside Mariachis!" reads a Casa Cultural Facebook post. The 2019 gathering will be the fourth rendition of the event, according to Avenue C Plaza.

"Celebrate Day of the Dead as they would in Puebla, Mexico. EVERYTHING IS FREE!," reads an event description. "With several dance troupes performing traditional Mexican dances and two MORE troupes dancing the 'jaguar hunt.' Also great food, art workshops, performances by children from local schools, Mariachis and the final lighting of the ofrenda (altar) at sunset to honor the dead and departed."
