Discuss Kensington Crime At Next Community Council Meeting
The NYPD's 66th Precinct will host its monthly Community Council meeting on Jan. 19.

KENSINGTON, BROOKLYN — On thursday, the NYPD's 66th Precinct will host its first Community Council meeting since Captain David Wall took the reigns at the department. The meeting will start on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the office of Community Board 12, located at 5910 13th Ave.
The 66th patrols Kensington, as well as parts of Borough Park, Midwood and Sunset Park.
Local news website KARMABrooklyn Blog reported that Wall will be in attendance at the meeting, though a CB 12 staffer said she couldn't confirm that, and the 66th Precinct couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Community Council meetings are a chance for residents to speak with local officers about public safety issues. In 2016, the 66th recorded a total of 1,015 major crimes, according to official police data, including one murder, 15 rapes, 120 robberies, 172 felony assaults, 164 burglaries, 455 grand larcenies, and 88 auto thefts.
Through Jan. 15 of this year, the precinct recorded 37 major crimes, compared to 34 during the same period last year, according to the NYPD's CompStat database.
