Enjoy a Free Outdoor Movie at Kensington's Avenue C Plaza

Avenue C Plaza in Kensington will host a free showing of classic subway film "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" on Sep. 1.

KENSINGTON, BROOKLYN — As last week's cricket-related stunt on the D train reminded us, you never know what's going to happen on the subway. But in 1974, the filmmakers behind The Taking of Pelham One Two Three envisioned another harrowing tunnel tale, this time involving hostages and unusually serious performances from Walter Matthau and Jerry Stiller.

A free outdoor showing of the classic film will take place Thursday, Sep. 1 at the new Avenue C Plaza, located at the intersection of Avenue C and McDonald Avenue in Kensington.

The film will roll at 9:30 p.m., and the film will wrap by 11:30 p.m., at which point you can nervously walk to the nearby Church Avenue stop on the F and G line and head home while suspiciously eyeing your fellow passengers.
