Pumpkin Smash Potato Bake Bash
When/Where: Saturday Nov. 10 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Prospect Heights Community Garden, located at 252-256 Saint Marks Ave.Â
Why Go:Â What better way to take out some of that post-superstorm energy than by smashing the bejeezus out of your slowly rotting Jack-O-Lantern? Once the pumpkin is obliterated into compost, enjoy some nice baked potatoes, hot cider and baked goodies!

Veteran's Day Celebration at BLDG 92
When/Where: Saturday, Nov. 10 from 12 to 6 p.m. BLDG 92 is located at 63 Flushing Ave. at the corner of Carlton and Flushing Avenue.Â
Why Go: BLDG 92 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard is celebrating Veterans Day with a host of activities for Vets and non-Vets alike. Get creative at the family craft table, where you can make tribute flowers to honor Veteran service and inaugurate the tribute wall. Vets and their families can enjoy a special tour (registration required), and flashing your military ID will entitle you to discounts on beer, wine and food.Â

Fall Leaf Collection at E. 4th Street Community Garden
When/Where: Saturdays through Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. E. Fourth Street Community Garden, located on E. 4th Street between Caton and Ft. Hamilton Parkway.Â
Why Go:Â The violent weather of the past few weeks means you've probably got more than a little leafy detritus piling up around your backyard. Bag it up and dump it off at E.4th Street Community Garden, where it will compost back into the earth!Â
Cost: Free.

When/Where: Sunday, Nov. 11 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Applewood, located at 501 11th St. in Park Slope.Â
Why Go: Not one to be left out of the recovery effort, Applewood restaurant is selling succulent sausages and fancy-pants cocktails on behalf of Restore Red Hook, a grass-roots organization gathering funds for small businesses ravaged by the storm.
Cost: $8 for snacks, $8 for drinks. Cash only.Â
