Golden Farm Boycott Begins This Weekend

Residents are continuing to rally in support of Golden Farm grocery store workers with an indefinite boycott of the store beginning on Saturday.Â
While owner Sonny Kim and store employees are locked in a prolonged legal battle over years of back wages, members of the community, along with advocacy group New York Communities for change, plan to fight back in a different way: With their pocketbooks.
"When we boycotted Golden Farm for 24 hours in April, the workers reported the store only brought in a fraction of its usual revenue," said NYCC organizer Inti Ossio. "That boycott sent a clear message to the workers and the store owner, Sonny Kim: the community was behind the workers in a serious way."
