Windsor Terrace's 'Hamilton's' Headed for October Opening
The restaurant will open its doors in the former The Oak and the Iris location on Fort Hamilton Parkway.

Cruising down Fort Hamilton Parkway, it's clear that the new restaurant slated to open in the former will not be hewing to . NYC Building permits still paper the windows, and the free scraps of wood available out front may offer cold comfort to those hoping they'd be able to sit down for a beer by now.
The good news, though, is that the eatery, helmed by the owners of Park Slope's popular comfort-food haven Alchemy, is well on its way—owners Kevin and Georgia Read are powering their way toward an October opening—they're shooting for Oct. 7, though they're quick to add that the date is a goal, not a guarantee.
It also has a name: Hamilton's, a nod to the street it will soon call home.Â

"We're still waiting for our liquor license, and we still have some stuff to do, though it is really moving along," Georgia told Patch on Thursday. The delay is due in part to foot-dragging by the state liquor authority, but moreover, interior renovations are still very much under way.

"Even if we got our liquor license today, we'd still need three weeks," she said, casting a glance around the space littered with power tools and painting supplies.
The delayed opening has done nothing to dampen the neighborhood's enthusiasm for Hamilton's arrival.
"It's hard to work sometimes because people keep coming in," she said. "It's been great."
The restaurant, which will feature a full dinner menu and respectable selection of beer and wine, will seat around 60 people inside and another 20 out front.
While the public is eager to assign a culinary identity to the restaurant—the term "gastropub" in particular has been thrown around—Georgia said she'd prefer that people think of it simply as a place where locals can come hang out and have a great meal.
"People have in their mind what a gastropub is, because it was really trendy for awhile," she said, adding that Hamilton's menu will not include the heavy English dishes for which the concept was named.
"I'd rather just say that we're a casual neighborhood restaurant with a creative American menu."
Hamilton's is located at 2826 Fort Hamilton Pkwy.
