Learn More About 'Specialized High Schools' At City Info Session In Kensington
Parents of middle schoolers may want to pay attention.

KENSINGTON, BROOKLYN — Parents of middle schoolers in Kensington and the surrounding areas will get a chance to hear more about "specialized high schools" at an information session hosted by the Department of Education.
The session will take place on Saturday, September 23 at 3:30 p.m. at the Kensington Library on 18th Avenue.
Parents can learn about the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) and hear about LaGuardia High School admissions.

They can also learn about the specialized high school admissions process and ask questions to a DOE representative.

Specialized high schools are for students "who excel academically and artistically, including English Language Learners and students with an IEP or 504 Plan," the city says.

Learn about the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), find out about LaGuardia High School auditions, and speak to a NYC Department of Education representative. At the session, families can learn about the Specialized High Schools and the admissions process, and they can ask any questions they may have. Space is limited and available first-come, first-served.
