Market Fresh Supermarket Has Re-Opened in Windsor Terrace

Welcome back, Market Fresh.

WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN — Market Fresh Supermarket, located at 238 Prospect Park West in Windsor Terrace, is back in action after an approximately two-week closure.

Owner Samee Tharma said Friday that he rearranged the store and brought in a new collection of "natural and organic foods" requested by customers.

"We're going to be open," he said. "We're getting more stuff every day."

Among its new offerings, the store now carries organic prepared foods by Amy's, Van's, Earbound Farm, and Cascadia Farm, Tharma said, as well as gluten-free bread by Udi's.

Tharma said that next week, organic peanut butter, jelly, spices and cooking oil will be arriving, as well as environmentally-friendly detergent and paper towels by Seventh Generation. Organic meat is on order as well, he said.

As Park Slope Stoop and DNAinfo reported, when Market Fresh initially closed, locals expressed concern over the lack of supermarkets in the area. Curbed has even mapped the number of Brooklyn grocery stores that have shuttered in recent years.

But Sharma seemed confident Market Fresh would stay in business, noting that it expanded several years ago, growing from a deli into a full-sized supermarket.
