New Affordable Senior Housing Available in Brooklyn

Selfhelp Community Services is pleased to announce that applications are available for 39 affordable apartments located at 333 Lenox Road.

Brooklyn, NY – Selfhelp Community Services is pleased to announce that applications are available for 39 affordable studio and one-bedroom apartments located at 333 Lenox Road, Brooklyn, NY. These apartments are open to low and moderate income adults, age 62 and older. For close to 60 years, Selfhelp Community Services has been committed to providing affordable housing for older adults in New York.

More than 1,400 low and moderate-income seniors enjoy life in Selfhelp’s ten affordable residences, designed exclusively for older New Yorkers. Our buildings offer residents the opportunity to lead independent lives in affordable and appropriate apartments, with access to on-site services if and when needed, through the Selfhelp Active Services for Aging Model (SHASAM). These services include assistance accessing benefits and entitlements, wellness programs, health screens, referrals to home care, technology, socialization events, and volunteer opportunities. Building amenities include cooking gas, energy-efficient appliances, modern kitchens, accessible bathrooms, on-site superintendent, laundry room, and community room. Each unit is equipped with emergency pull cords, there is closed-circuit TV surveillance in each lobby, and the buildings are near to public transportation.

Additional information about tenant eligibility and available apartments including size, rent, and targeted income distribution can be found on nyhousingsearch.gov. Prospective tenants can request an application by calling 718-886-1412 ext. 15 or mail a written request along with a double stamped, self-addressed envelope to Douglas Elliman Property Management, 140-16 45th Avenue, Flushing, NY 11355. The deadline for applications is April 17th. Applications will be ranked on a waiting list by random selection.
