Officer Attacked During Kensington Arrest

Sgt. Robert Zaleski was kicked in the knee by a perp he was trying to cuff.

A police officer was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after getting kicked in the kneecap as he was making an arrest in Kensington, a spokesman for the 66th Precinct told Patch.

Sgt. Robert Zaleski was visiting a home on Ocean Parkway and Avenue F around 12:45 p.m. to check on a victim who was recently assaulted.

The perp charged with committing the assault, identified by police as Nadim Ishayav, was at the victim's home at the time of Zaleski's arrival, despite a restraining order against him.

Zaleski attempted to arrest Ishayav, but no sooner had the sergeant placed one cuff around the perp's wrist than Ishayav wheeled around kicked Zaleski in the leg, bashing the officer's kneecap out of place.

Ishayav's mother was also collared after attempting to interfere with her son's arrest.
